ESTsoft (CEO Chung Sang-won), a company specializing in artificial intelligence services, announced on the 28th that it has won the Ministry of Health and Welfare National Rehabilitation Center's project 'Research on Building an AI-Based Remote Healthcare Platform for Senior Daily Health Management'.
The project is one of 14 tasks within the 'User-Centered Care Robot and Service Demonstration R&D Program', and ESTsoft is taking part as a consortium with healthcare IT company Unimeo and Dongguk University. The project is worth around KRW 3 billion and runs for 30 months.
This will accelerate the growth of the 'AI human senior care service' ESTsoft has been pursuing aggressively of late. R&D projects of this kind allow the company to secure revenue and advance the service at the same time, strengthening the business model.
The aim of the project is to build an AI human chatbot platform that lets seniors interact by voice alone to receive daily health information and manage their health. ESTsoft has proposed three research tasks for the project, all centered on AI humans.
The first research task is a 'senior companionship service' built on conversational AI humans — providing seniors with emotional reassurance and a sense of closeness through conversation with an AI human, while also removing the difficulty many seniors face in operating devices.
The second research task is a 'real-time health management service'. With an AI human operating in the same living space as the senior, the service will collect and analyze daily information such as sleep, walking and food intake to create an environment that responds to a constantly changing physical condition, and will guide users on the nutrition and activity they are lacking.
The third research task is to maximize the effect of 'senior entertainment programs' with AI humans — bringing the AI human of Tae Jin-Ah produced by ESTsoft into existing singing classes and cognitive activity classes for dementia prevention, to significantly improve seniors' leisure lives.
On the back of this project, ESTsoft and Unimeo have agreed to deepen their partnership. The strategy is to expand the senior care business quickly by combining ESTsoft's core AI human technology and services with the senior care industry expertise Unimeo has built up over many years.

He continued: "By delivering this project successfully we will demonstrate and advance the need for AI human services in the industry, and do our utmost so that seniors worldwide can enjoy the benefits of AI technology and live more enjoyable, healthier lives."
Separately, in June ESTsoft won a local government project worth around KRW 1 billion, also as a consortium, to convert existing senior centers into smart senior centers using its AI human service.
