ESTsoft (CEO Chung Sang-won), a company specializing in AI services, announced on the 6th that CTO (Chief Technology Officer) Kwon Taek-soon has received the Minister of Science and ICT's Commendation at the 'Awards for Outstanding Software R&D Results and Contributors', in recognition of his contribution to the development of artificial intelligence technology in Korea.
CTO Kwon Taek-soon has contributed significantly to the development of Korea's artificial intelligence software technology over more than 20 years, from his time as a researcher at Seoul National University's artificial intelligence institute in 1999 to the present.
He has successfully delivered a range of national projects laying the foundations for Korea's AI industry, including ▲building intelligent information industry infrastructure, ▲developing core AI industry technology and ▲building AI training datasets. At the same time he has proven his research and development ability by winning the grand prize at the 'Artificial Intelligence Grand Challenge' hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT for three consecutive years, in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
He also led the development and successful commercialization of ESTsoft's AI virtual humans, and published a manuscript on the core technology behind them — 'Deep learning generative models used in producing AI news anchors' — in an academic journal issued by the Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers, inspiring fellow researchers as he continues his work for the development of Korean artificial intelligence technology.
ESTsoft CTO Kwon Taek-soon said: "I could receive this great honor only because of the help of many colleagues," adding, "I will do my utmost together with my fellow researchers so that Korea sets global technical standards in artificial intelligence and leads the industry."
